As we age there are multiple postural, strength, and flexibility changes which occur. Balance also changes significantly with age and can lead to frequent falls, which are debilitating. Poor balance can be attributed to overall lower extremity strength or inner ear problems also known as vestibular dysfunction. Our Fall Prevention and Balance Training program can help patients who experience instability or loss of balance. Properly strengthening the lower extremities and improving stability on uneven surfaces can help prevent future falls.
Our Fall Prevention program includes identifying where the balance deficits are, creating a specially tailored exercise program, and restoring functional strength and stability. We work closely with our patients on improving balance strategies, increasing stability on uneven surfaces and during transfers. Our main goal is to prevent future falls and restore balance.
